Elizabeth “ Betsy” Douglass married Jonas Little, about 1800, the son of Scottish parents Mary and Captain George Little. Betsy was the daughter of irish Mary Handley and Alexander Douglass of Pennsylvania. Her father had been murdered while returning from a trip to Kentucky with his brother in law, Captain John Handley, a land surveyor.
Fearing the Indians, her mother moved them to a Scottish settlement in South Carolina, where they met the Little family, living along the Yadkin River.
Eventually George, being widowed, married his daughter in law’s Mother. George and two of his son’s famlies moved about 1802 to Kentucky where they are all found on the 1810 census.

1830 shows Jonas and Betsy still in Daviess County KY with seven males and two females in their household next to Samuel Handley family and Isaiah Hunt family, but George Little has died and so Betsy’s mother must be remarried by this time. Betsy’s brother in law, John Little has by now moved back to Tennessee.
